From stock quality to precision finishing, every TALBAR manufactured piece passes rigorous visual, mechanical and optical inspection and testing beginning with receipt of raw materials through final packaging for shipment. Regardless of the job, QC procedures meet Mil Spec 1-45208A standards.
Follows is a full description of TALBAR's array of production machinery and equipment.
Vertical and Horizontal CNC Milling Centers
Twelve CNC Milling centers of various sizes are the heart of TALBAR's production facility. The largest center is capable of machining 60” on the X-axis and 30” on the Y-axis. For projects requiring full 4 th axis rotary milling, TALBAR utilizes 10,000-RPM spindles ranging from 15-25 horsepower. To ensure all mills are accurate and repeatable within +/- .0002. Ball Bar tests and Laser Calibration are done annually.
CNC Lathes
Four CNC Lathes further enhance TALBAR capabilities. Equipped with hydraulic 3 jaw, 4 jaw, and collet chucks the 2-axis lathes have programmable tale stocks, parts catchers and bar pullers. TALBAR's 4 axis lathe has a subspindle and live tool holders for rotary milling and drilling. Swing capacity is 10 inches over a distance of 24 inches handling up to 2 5/8” Bar to 48” in length.
CNC Wire and Sink EDM's
TALBAR EDM capability includes both Wire and Sink machines. The Wire EDM has a programmable U & V axis, with full 4-axis capability and the ability to cut with .006-.012 diameter wire with table travel of 16” x 18” with 10” on the Z – Axis. The CNC Sink EDM has full 4 – Axis capability with a four-position tool changer equipped with 3R tooling and a chiller to maintain size during long unattended runs.
Grinders
Ten grinders capable of operating with or without coolant depending on the application combined with a very large selection of tooling and fixturing give this department a long reach. Using Newbould Grindit spin fixtures and Indexable fixtures, Harig Lectric centers grinding fixtures and Dedtru Centerless Grinders TALBAR can handle any kind of cylindrical grinding application. Hermann Schmidt magnetic squaring blocks and Magna-Sine chucks, angle dressers, radius dressers, and twin dressers with numerous Diamond wheels for Carbide grinding and Borazon wheels for heavy stock removal on hardened steel add to process availability. .
Jig Grinders and Jig Bores
Two Moore Jig Grinders when jobs precision I.D. and O.D grinding capable of holding size and concentricity to .00005 with spindle options ranging from 40,000-175,000 RPM.
Mills and Lathes
TALBAR additionally employs eight vertical knee mills all with digital readouts and power feeds. Two are equipped with 2-axis CNC integrated controllers. These machines have proven to be more efficient on small lot or prototype jobs with complex features requiring CNC control yet can still be run manually. There are four manual lathes all in different sizes and configurations. The largest can swing 11” in diameter and turn 60” in length.
